I have been a Parent Governor at school for just over 12 months and am on the Welfare Committee and a Link Governor to Class 1. Weekly I come into class and help with guided reading or help children with uncompleted homework, I love the two hours a week I spend with the children as I get an insight into the daily planning and structure. I will follow the children through all of their classes whilst they are at our school.
Recently I have been involved with the interviews of teachers and termly I sit in on the Pupil Progress Meetings with Mrs Davies and each class teacher. This is to ensure that all children are monitored closely so they can each achieve their optimum attainment level.
A lovely part of being a Governor is the invitation I receive from school to help on school trips, taking different groups of children and ensuring their safety. Putting a face to a name of all the children is very important to me so when I look through a class book to check on progress, I know exactly who that child is. This enables me to confidently report information back to the Governing Body.
The staff and children are brilliant at Our Lady of Lourdes and I am very proud to say my children go there and I will continue to be actively involved in everything asked of me for the rest of my term as Parent Governor.
