My name is Emma Liddle and I have been a parent governor since October 2013. I have 3 children and have been a parent at Our Lady of Lourdes since 2006. I was PTA Chairperson for 4 years, helped with guided reading and school trips. Over the last 10 years I have also volunteered in the wider local community including running a mother and toddler group and was a member of the Advisory Board at Woodbank Children’s Centre. I am also a committed member at Guardian Angels church.
Throughout my career and in my various roles it has been essential to be an excellent communicator and have outstanding organisational skills. I am currently working as administrator for my husband’s electrical business which has allowed me flexible working hours around a busy family life. I worked for Bury MBC as a school administrator at local primary schools and prior to this worked as a Business Account Manager for a communications company for 10 years and other similar roles since leaving college.
My role as parent governor on both Finance and more recently Pastoral sub committees is to be involved in most aspects of managing the school, such as budgets, building repairs, staffing and setting standards of school discipline. We support the headteacher but also ask questions to ensure that the school is being lead in the right direction. One of my roles is safe guarding and it is paramount that the children are the centre of all decisions, that they “love, learn and grow” in a safe, happy environment, have excellent learning opportunities and that the catholic ethos is always present in the school family. I keep up to date with relevant training and attend site walks for the rolling program of repairs, learning walks and am involved in the interview process for new members of staff.
