Continents, Oceans & Africa (updated 12/10/17)

We began our topic by finding out what an island is. First we used rocks and water to help us understand how islands are formed. Then we used map skills to label some islands in the British Isles.

Meerkats were our chosen animals to explore as part of our study of Africa. We have made and displayed Mini Meerkat pop-up fact files. 
In our activity of comparing Africa with the Isle of Coll, we split into 2 groups to study African landscapes and African weather. We welcomed some Year 6 children to class to share some of their watercolour African landscapes. We created sandpaper and crayon art and some of us made up mini weather reports.
