Jack and the Beanstalk
Before listening to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, we talked about what we already knew about the story. The children drew pictures on the board to share their ideas. Well done everyone.
We listened to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and then we acted it out thinking about the story language and what happened next. The children also took on the role of the giant and Jack answering questions from the rest of class. Super listening and understanding from everyone.
We made our own beanstalk using paper and a pipe cleaner. We made our own Jack and then chose how to fix the beanstalk together with either glue, sellotape or staples. We also talked about the shape of the beanstalk being a cylinder.
Estimating - we drew a beanstalk and estimated how many of Jack’s footprints it would take to measure the same as the beanstalk. We wrote our estimates down and then at the end of the day checked by counting to see if we were right. Fantastic estimating.
