This half term will be very exciting in Year 1 as we prepare for the Christmas play that we will perform with Year 2. Soon we will be getting very busy rehearsing for it!

 

This half term our Science and Geography units focus upon Seasonal Change and the Weather. We will be exploring the types of weathers we might expect to see during different seasons. We will be making weather diaries to record the weathers that we observe. In addition we will be learning about the impact that the weather changes have on animals by investigating the migration and hibernation of animals. We will also be making our own igloos to learn about the types of houses that people in different countries make to keep warm.

 

We will be continuing to learn vocabulary relating to greetings and family members in French. In addition we will introduce vocabulary that is linked to the children’s learning in Science and Geography about the weather.

 

 

In Read, Write, Inc. the children will be continuing to develop reading and writing skills. I would like to take this opportunity to say how pleased I was with the children’s progress in their reading throughout the first half term! They have all been working very hard!

 

We will be continuing to learn about Money during the first two weeks back at school. After this we will be investigating Addition and Subtraction before moving onto learning about 2D and 3D shapes and how we can find them all around us in everyday objects.
