Subitising Game

Using play dough to create leaves to add to the Beanstalk. We had to look how many leaves were printed and then add more to make 5.

Composing and decomposing Number bonds to 10

Practising our 1to1 correspondence of numbers 1 to 5.

Composing and decomposing numbers

Matching Numicon shapes to see part, part, whole of 8.

Identifying the number 9. We formed the number, then we found 9 objects using cardinality to prove the amount. We then placed the numbers 1 to 9 in order.

Measuring using non standard units - Traditional Tales Topic. The Giant came to visit and left his trail behind him. We have measured his footprints using different N.S.U; unifix bricks, lolly sticks and counters.

Measuring and 1:1 correspondence

Counting 10 pieces of vegetables to place on the 10 frame before adding to the pot. We talked about each piece and how many more pieces did we need to make 10. I’ve also subtracted, took away an amount before checking how many more to make 10.

Reading number sentences independently without support but scaffolded with counters. The number sentences ranged from 1+1 = through to all the number bonds to 10.

Introducing 2D shapes with exploring the classroom to identify flat shapes that you can’t pick up. We went outside to explore the outside world full of shapes. Circles, rectangles, squares, rectangles, triangles, pentagons and hexagons. We even looked at octagons.

Identifying numbers to 20 whilst blowing objects along the simple graph linking to the three little pigs taught during our traditional tales topic.

Introducing 3D solid shapes; cylinders, cubes, cuboid, spheres and cones. The children used junk 3D modelling to create their own house, just like in ‘the three little pigs.’ We then used the big bad blower to try and blow them down.
