Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. As a school community we receive ashes on our foreheads. Two of our Year 3 children and Mrs Waterworth attended Mass. They received ashes that were blessed by Fr Paul and returned with ashes for Mrs Waterworth to lead a whole school service.
Made from dried palm leaves, the ashes symbolise the dust from which God made us. When the ash is applied to our foreheads, we remember to, 'Turn away from sin and listen to the word of God.'
