Science
Living Things and their Habitats
We discussed what we already knew about our new topic and then wrote questions for what we would like to know. We talked about the different ways we can work like scientists to find the answers to our questions. We are looking forward to lots of Science Enquiry!
Identifying, Grouping and Classifying - We explored and compared the differences between things that are living, dead, and things that have never been alive. We worked together to sort them into 3 groups. We are looking forward to a 'Scavenger Hunt' next week in Forest School to see what else we can find!
Forest School Scavenger Hunt - We found lots of things which were 'Alive, Dead and Never Been Alive!
Pattern Seeking Investigation:
Which caterpillars will survive?
We explored how animals are suited to their habitats. We imagined we were hungry birds looking to eat 'caterpillars' (different coloured pieces of wool!). We found lots of red and blue 'caterpillars' but didn't find many green ones, learning about how they are 'camouflaged' on the leaves and bushes. Super investigating Year 2!
- We have been exploring animals and their habitats and linking to their Chester Zoo trip next week they created their own zoo habitats in class. After lots of research about their chosen animals they opened their little zoos for us all to visit.

To reinforce all of our scientific knowledge about animals and their habitats we visited Chester Zoo and the best day!
We’ve been exploring and investigating food chains. We wrote all about different sections of the food chains and then created our own food chain.
