Intent

Our Lady of Lourdes believes that a high-quality physical education curriculum inspires our pupils to excel and succeed safely in physically demanding activities and competitive sports.

All children to be taught transferable skills focusing on the physical, social and thinking processes of each child.

We intend to support our pupils' health and fitness and provide them with the opportunities to build resilience and embed values such as teamwork, communication, respect, problem solving and leadership through co-operation and collaboration, whilst also contributing to physical, mental and social well-being, which will support and provide young children with confidence beyond their primary years.

We aim to give every child equal opportunity to participate in PE and sport regardless of ability, gender, race, religion, economic background, disability or talent (SEN/D).

All children will have access to extra-curricular clubs and the chance to compete against others.  All PE lessons are fully inclusive for the individual child to maximise their potential. We recognise that every child will have different needs and this is incorporated into every session.

Provision for the gifted and talented children is made through outcomes in lessons, extra-curricular (including opportunities to compete) and links with community clubs.
