Forest School
**What is a Forest School?**
A Forest School is a holistic, learner-led experience that allows children to grow through engaging with risks, problem-solving, and self-discovery in a natural environment. The program includes hands-on, nature-themed activities and runs throughout the year. The vision of Forest School is to provide every child with the opportunity to cultivate curiosity and foster a positive relationship with both the natural world and their peers.
**What Forest School Sessions Involve:**
Sessions include playing in nature, climbing trees, building dens, gardening, using tools, making campfires, animal spotting, social games, and arts and crafts. Forest School promotes holistic development: emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social, and physical. It is learner-centered, focusing on learner-based outcomes.
One key message is that progress in Forest School is process-based, not goal-oriented.
**Dear Parents and Guardians,**
Please ensure your children have appropriate clothing for the season and temperature. The following items are recommended:
- Waterproof coat and trousers or a waterproof all-in-one suit
- Wellingtons or sturdy walking boots
- Long trousers and a long-sleeved top
- Hat and gloves
- Spare clothes
These should preferably be old clothes or items that you do not mind getting muddy.
Thank you for your continued support.
Mrs. Lindley
