Forest School
What is a Forest School?
A Forest School is a holistic and learner-led experience that allows children to grow through engaging with risk, problem-solving, and self-discovery in a natural environment. The program includes hands-on, nature-themed activities and runs throughout the year. The vision of Forest School is to provide every child with the opportunity to cultivate curiosity and foster a positive relationship with both the natural world and their peers.
What Forest School sessions involve:
Sessions include playing in nature, climbing trees, building dens, gardening, using tools, making campfires, animal spotting, social games, and arts & crafts.
Forest School aims at holistic, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social and physical development.
Forest School is learner-centred with learner-based outcomes.
One key message is that progress in Forest School is process-based, not goal-based.
