We loved celebrating World Book Day dressed up as words, especially when we did a whole school parade. We read our new books and played vocabulary games during the day.
Reading about the animals on the Land of Neverbelieve to develop our language and be inspired to create our own creatures.
Our weekly spelling dictation.
During National Storytelling Week, we joined a workshop with the author Tola Okogwa. Year 6 loved getting creative and learning how to write a story where the main character has a super power. We also met up with our special friends to enjoy some reading outside in the winter sunshine.
Poetry inspired by the Lunar New Year and the year of the snake, Year 6 wrote some fantastic poems using figurative language.
Writing and editing our rainforest setting descriptions.
Hot-seating characters to infer how they might be feeling at key points of the few chapters.
We analysed the first chapter of our new text, Journey to the River Sea. We looked at the main character, the setting in 1910 and the themes introduced.
