Year 3 took their investigation skills outdoors, exploring the ratio of flora and fauna in 4 key sites of our school field. 🌱🪴🐞🐝
Year 3 explored natural resources in and around our forest school as a preliminary look into the world of plants, and where such materials begin their journey. The children progressed on to utilising such materials into tools useful in the growth of plants.
Year 3 conducted a self led investigation into how the ‘distance’ an object is from the light source, affects the ‘size of a shadow’. Through whole cohort discussions we decided upon our hypothesis and recorded our results. 🔦👥
Year 3 Shadow puppet shows.🐉🎭🔦
Continuing with our ‘light’ topic, Year 3 created their own puppet shows inspired by their big writes. We used our knowledge of shadows, utilising a translucent curtain and opaque cut out characters. 🐉🎭🔦
Continuing with our ‘light’ topic, Year 3 have been exploring shadows and their formation. We observed the key elements of a shadow and discussed the scientific reasoning behind their dark appearance and their lack of reflected detail. 👤
Year 3 have been investigating the reflectivity of different objects as a part of a carousel of different activities. We explored the process of light divergence, resulting in convexed and concaved lenses. 💡🪞〰️
Year 3 began their new scientific topic on ‘Light’ 💡We explored properties of different materials, assessing how well they reflect light. We then went on to classify such materials in our very own caves. 🔦
